Atlanta Falcons 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Garrett Wilson heads to Atlanta at No. 8

Making the selections through all seven rounds of a 2022 NFL Mock Draft for the Atlanta Falcons, including Garrett Wilson at No. 8.

It’s a new era in Atlanta Falcons football, and their final 2022 NFL Mock Draft is very indicative of that. In fact, our final mock sports a new-look Falcons team seeking a new identity and trading back into the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft to do so. Let’s jump right into their full haul.

Atlanta Falcons 2022 7-Round Mock Draft

Here are projections of every pick the Atlanta Falcons could make within a 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft with the Pro Football Network staff as the general manager. This is what we would do with the picks after the board shook out while doing a full 7-round, 32-team mock draft.

Round 1, Pick 8: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State

The best all-around route runner with speed to burn heads to the Atlanta Falcons as Garrett Wilson comes south. Wilson has made defenders who attempt to slow him down look silly as far back as his dominant high school days. The growth and level of play he displayed at Ohio State only honed his craft. He’s ready to be the Falcons’ WR1 right away.

Other players in consideration: Drake London, WR, USC; Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Round 1, Pick 26 (mock trade from TEN): Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Mock Trade: The Falcons send pick Nos. 43 and 74, as well as a 2023 second-round pick, to the Titans for pick No. 26.

With Travon Walker still available, the Falcons make a first-round move. Trading two second-round picks, as well as a third-round pick, the Falcons secure Walker to dramatically improve their edge-rushing unit. Walker also possesses plenty of ability to drop into coverage and play off-ball linebacker. He’s a true talent with untapped potential due to his spot in Georgia’s defensive rotation.

Other players in consideration: None; Walker was the only reason to trade up

Round 2, Pick 58 (mock trade from TEN): Logan Hall, DT, Houston

The Falcons made a big move to get back into Round 1 and receive even more value in Round 2. Logan Hall is a dominant athlete with tremendous upside. His first step and get-off from the line of scrimmage are terrific. Hall also dominated at the Senior Bowl against the uptick in competition.

Other players in consideration: Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma

Round 3, Pick 82 (from IND): Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State

One of the few teams needing help at running back within the top 100, the Falcons grab the next great Matt Campbell product. Breece Hall is a combination of the former two Campbell products, David Montgomery and Kareem Hunt. Hall can carry the load in Atlanta for years as he comes fully equipped with three-down RB skills.

Other players in consideration: Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M; David Bell, WR, Purdue

Round 4, Pick 114: Bryan Cook, S, Cincinnati

Moving back to the defensive side of the ball, the Falcons grab Bryan Cook from Cincinnati. Cook had quite a college career and capped it with a dominant season in 2021. He’s rangy and brings the power with his hits at times, but his prowess in coverage is ideal for today’s NFL.

Other players in consideration: JT Woods, S, Baylor; Yusuf Corker, S, Kentucky

Round 5, Pick 151: Cole Strange, G, Chattanooga

A mauler and mean blocker in the trenches, Cole Strange will immediately make his presence known in the NFL. He may be a season away from meaningful snaps as he adjusts to the speed of the game at the professional level, but Strange has sound fundamentals. Strange also has great play strength and a keen understanding of the game.

Other players in consideration: Kalon Barnes, CB, Baylor; Thayer Munford, G, Ohio State

Round 6, Pick 190: Ryan Van Demark, OT, UConn

One of the more significant value picks in this draft, Ryan Van Demark can develop into a starting tackle in no time. He’s a bit lean, but Van Demark has a great anchor for his size. He also moves very well, and he was consistently getting the better of the opposing pass rushers in 1-on-1 battles during the Shrine Bowl practices.

Other players in consideration: Josh Jobe, CB, Alabama; Devin Cochran, OT, Georgia Tech

Round 6, Pick 213 (compensatory selection): Faion Hicks, CB, Wisconsin

With speed for days, Faion Hicks is the final pick for the Falcons. Every team needs multiple good cornerbacks nowadays, and it’s rare to secure one with Hicks’ speed and potential return-game value at this stage of the draft. It’s a stacked cornerback class, and the Falcons’ wait to grab one pays off.

Other players in consideration: Dontario Drummond, WR, Ole Miss; Jeffrey Gunter, EDGE, Coastal Carolina
