Missouri State defensive lineman Eric Johnson is visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 18, according to a league source. It’s part of a busy schedule for the former Senior Bowl all-star game standout as he prepares for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Eric Johnson has a busy visit schedule
Johnson has met with the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and New Orleans Saints. He has visits lined up with the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Last year, Johnson (6-foot-4, 299 pounds) recorded 43 tackles (6.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, 5 quarterback hits, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and 3 blocked field goals.
Johnson generated 19.5 career tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 pass breakups, and 4 blocked kicks. During each of his last two seasons, he was a second-team All-Conference selection.
The Missouri State product participated in the Senior Bowl all-star game and excelled that week in pass-rushing drills. He also delivered a strong performance at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Johnson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.84 seconds at his pro day, and he boasts an 83 1/4″ wingspan.
Johnson was snubbed by the NFL Scouting Combine. The only defensive tackles at the Combine that ran faster than him were Georgia standouts Devonte Wyatt (4.77) and Jordan Davis (4.78).
Johnson weighed roughly 230 pounds as a freshman and is nearly 300 pounds now. He has 10″ hands and 34 3/4″ arm length. He posted an 8’11” broad jump and bench-pressed 225 pounds 20 times at his pro day.
