The Packers sent Adams to the Raiders despite reports of the franchise’s willingness to match his desired contract amount. They slapped the franchise tag on Adams prior to the new league year, while Las Vegas has reportedly signed him to a massive five-year, $141.25 million deal.
In exchange for Adams, the Packers received what was originally called “two prime picks” in the 2022 NFL Draft. As the dust settled, those picks turned out to be first- and second-round selections in this year’s draft. Green Bay received Las Vegas’ pick No. 22 and No. 53.
With their first pick in Round 1, the Packers hit the defensive side of the ball with a questionable pick of Quay Walker from Georgia. They stayed on the Bulldogs, grabbing Devonte Wyatt with pick No. 28.
Green Bay Packers 2022 NFL Draft team needs
Even before sending Adams away, the Packers were heavy favorites to draft a wide receiver. Now, with Adams in the desert, Green Bay can look to capitalize on one of their two first-round selections with a new wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers.
There are a plethora of receiving options for Green Bay to contemplate. Whether they go with their first first-round selection or wait until their second first-round pick, there is value in each potential spot.
Aside from wide receiver, the Packers should absolutely be in the market for help on the edge, as well as at the other levels of defense. They re-signed De’Vondre Campbell at linebacker but the position lacks depth and longevity. Green Bay, like most NFL teams, could also use a few new faces in the cornerback room.
Still, as important as the other positions may be, it would be a surprise to see the Packers not draft at least two receivers in this class. Here are their top needs after the Adams trade:
