Major players to start the 2022 NFL Draft and every round thereafter, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ draft picks will be the talk of the town through each day of the NFL’s marquee event. With a bevy of selections throughout the whole draft, the Jaguars had the chance to take dramatic steps toward rebuilding their roster.

Jacksonville Jaguars draft picks in 2022

With the first overall pick in each of the first four rounds and a few extra picks along the way, the Jaguars select five times in the first 105 selections and four times in the first 70 picks. Jacksonville was set to make waves regardless of their decision at the top, as they owned the first overall pick for the second straight season.

Along the way, the rumors circled around their choice at No. 1. The longtime frontrunner for the top overall pick, Kayvon Thibodeaux, was first. Then, Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson entered the fray before ultimately yielding way to Travon Walker landing as the betting favorite to be the first player taken on draft day.

The Jags weren’t done in Round 1, as they traded up with in-state rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers to select Devin Lloyd at No. 27. Jacksonville sent pick Nos. 33, 106, and 180 to Tampa in exchange for pick No. 27.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 NFL Draft Team Needs

The Jaguars are one of the few teams at the top of a draft that truly does not need a quarterback. With Trevor Lawrence entrenched as the team’s starter, the Jaguars are the rare team that needs improvement at just about every other spot on the roster. As such, it’s truly a unique situation, as they could go with the best player available or roll the dice on their top player regardless of position.

Entering the offseason, the Jaguars had larger needs, but their free agency spending spree reduced their areas of concern.

    • EDGE
