Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs is returning to the nest. Diggs has agreed to a three-year deal with the Seahawks ahead of free agency.
Quandre Diggs re-signs with Seahawks
Diggs will re-sign with the Seahawks on a three-year contract valued at $40 million. Diggs, 29, suffered a dislocated ankle and broken fibula in the Seahawks’ season finale against the Arizona Cardinals in January. Clearly, the Seahawks aren’t concerned about his recovery timeline.
Diggs, a longtime locker room leader in the NFL, will remain in the Seahawks’ secondary and look to help it improve on the field. He has plenty of experience and wisdom from his time in the NFL, and he will look to make the most of Seattle’s rebuild following his taste of free agency.
Getting to know Diggs
Diggs, a Houston native, entered the league as a sixth-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2015. The Texas alum became an immediate contributor, appearing in all 16 games (four starts) as a rookie and produced 38 tackles, 6 pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
After two years as a role player, Diggs became a full-time starter in 2017. During his final 37 games (32 starts) with the Lions, Diggs generated 153 tackles, 20 pass breakups, and 6 interceptions.
Diggs signed a three-year, $18.6 million contract extension with Detroit in 2018. The Lions then traded Diggs to the Seahawks in the middle of the 2019 campaign. In his first five games with Seattle, Diggs recorded 21 tackles, 3 interceptions, and a forced fumble.
Diggs earned his first two Pro Bowl nods during his two full seasons in Seattle. During that span, Diggs maintained his stat-stuffing ways, contributing 158 tackles, 17 pass breakups, and 10 interceptions.

Diggs was Pro Football Network Lead NFL Analyst Dalton Miller’s 16th overall free agent and third-ranked safety on the open market.
With Diggs off the board, safeties like Marcus Maye of the New York Jets, Jayron Kearse of the Dallas Cowboys, and Jordan Whitehead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to sign long-term deals. Maye, Kearse, and Whitehead are all ranked within Miller’s Top 100 Free Agents.
