Just two days after the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine ended, scouts made their way from Indianapolis to Oxford for the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks Pro Day. More than a dozen NFL teams were on hand to watch NFL Draft prospects from Miami work out.
Miami (Ohio) Pro Day 2022 brings in quite an audience
The Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Commanders were just a few of the squads on hand. With 11 teams in town, here’s who took part in the event as well as who turned heads.
Defensive players grab attention
Pass rusher Dominique Robinson, one of the top-rated players from the MAC, stood on his
terrific numbers from the Combine and only ran the shuttles. However, a pair of defensive backs turned linebackers had solid workouts.
Four-year starter Mike Brown measured 6′ 1/2″ and 220 pounds. He completed 18 reps on the bench, touched 33 inches in the vertical jump, and managed 10’5″ in the broad jump. Brown timed as fast as 4.55 seconds in the 40-yard dash and looked terrific in position drills.
Sterling Weatherford measured just under 6’4″ and 225 pounds. He touched 36
inches in the vertical jump and timed as fast as 4.59 seconds in the 40. He also completed 21 reps on the bench press. Weatherford turned in several good days of practice
during the Senior Bowl.
A vital showcase for a lesser-known prospect goes well
Youngstown State tight end Andrew Ogletree also participated in the Miami Pro Day. He hit the tape at just under 6’6″ and weighed 260 pounds. He completed 26 reps on the bench press, hit 35 inches in the vertical jump, and managed 10’1″ in the broad. Times for his 40 were all over the place, but Ogletree clocked in the high 4.6s to low 4.7s on a number of watches.
That time is even more impressive considering the track at Miami is viewed as slow. Ogletree had a crowd around him after the workout, including the TE-needy Jets.
