Following the most successful season of the Chip Kelly era, the 2022 UCLA Pro Day will allow some of their most talented NFL Draft prospects to continue their ascension in this class. When is the UCLA Pro Day, who should you be watching out for, and what can we expect?
When is the UCLA Pro Day in 2022?
- Date: Thursday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 15
- Time: 7:30 AM ET and 9 AM ET, respectively
Some UCLA prospects will have two opportunities to impress NFL teams during this pro day process. The first UCLA Pro Day, set aside just for rising seniors, will be held on Thursday, March 10. That workout begins at 7:30 AM ET.
Following that, all eligible draft prospects will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on Tuesday, March 15. That workout will start at 9 AM ET at the Wasserman Football Center.
Top UCLA NFL Draft prospects working out at pro day
For the past 10 years, UCLA has had multiple selections in the NFL Draft every year except for the 2019 event where Caleb Wilson was their only selection. In that time, the Bruins have had six first-round picks. In 2018, they had two first-round selections, with QB Josh Rosen headed to the Arizona Cardinals and Kolton Miller to the now-Las Vegas Raiders.
While a repeat of that first-round success is unlikely this year, UCLA will continue their streak of multiple selections in the 2022 NFL Draft. Ahead of the UCLA Pro Day, the Bruins have five prospects currently in the Pro Football Network Top 300 Big Board. Who should you be watching out for?
Sean Rhyan, OT
A three-year starter for UCLA, Sean Rhyan came into the 2021 college football season as a hot commodity garnering first-round attention. While that stock has somewhat soured, the UCLA OT has the potential to be a Day 2 selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Having led the way for Zach Charbonnet this past season, Rhyan will be particularly alluring for run-focused offenses.
At the NFL Combine, the UCLA OT measured in with 32 3/8″ arms, below the much-discussed requisite for the NFL. A sign of a potential switch inside at the next level, he was listed as a guard by NFL.com. Following an impressive athletic performance in Indianapolis, Rhyan will hope to build on this at the UCLA Pro Day as he seeks to solidify his stock.
Greg Dulcich, TE
The UCLA Pro Day gives Greg Dulcich another opportunity to elevate his already ascending NFL Draft stock. The Bruins tight end put on a show at the NFL Combine, finishing within the top five for the 40-yard dash (4.69), broad jump (10’2″), three-cone (7.05), and shuttle (4.37) among tight ends. After shining at the Senior Bowl, Dulcich also impressed on the field in Indianapolis.
The UCLA tight end presents as a three-level pass-catching threat at the NFL level. If he can improve as a blocker, there’s every chance that he lives up to Tony Pauline’s current ranking as the 68th overall prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft. For some, he’s already considered the top tight end prospect in this class.
Otito Ogbonnia, DT
Having not completed the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, I would expect to see Otito Ogbonnia complete that test at the UCLA Pro Day. Ogbonnia is looking to follow a similar path to the NFL as former UCLA DT Osa Odighizuwa, a third-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys last year. Ogbonnia has the power and explosiveness to develop into a disruptive nose tackle at the NFL level, with a current Day 3 projection for the 2022 NFL Draft.
