Now that Denver Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett has been hired, he has decisions to make and trusted coaches in mind for his key staff decisions. Priority No. 1: hire offensive and defensive coordinators. Hackett already has candidates in mind for both, per NFL Network: Rams passing game coordinator Ejiro Evero for defensive coordinator and Packers offensive line coach Adam Stenavich for offensive coordinator.

Nathaniel Hackett plans Denver Broncos’ coaching staff
NFL coaches tend to hire those they’ve worked with before and have built strong relationships with, and that is the case for Hackett. Hackett has identified Los Angeles Rams secondary coach and passing game coordinator Evero as his top defensive coordinator candidate, according to NFL Network. And Hackett, 42, the now-former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator, is looking at Packers offensive line coach Stenavich as his offensive coordinator choice.
Ejiro Evero would serve as defensive coordinator
Evero and Hackett were teammates at the University of California-Davis. After going undrafted and signing with the Raiders, Evero, 41, became an assistant coach at their alma mater.
He started his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a defensive quality control coach. The San Francisco 49ers and Packers then hired Evero for that same role.
Evero has worked his way up the coaching ranks and is now a key part of the Rams’ defensive coaching staff. The Rams play the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game this weekend.
Evero has been promoted from safeties coach in the past year. He was a candidate for the Packers’ defensive coordinator job a year ago. In addition, Evero was a Division II All-American player.
Adam Stenavich would serve as offensive coordinator
Stenavich, 38, played in the NFL for six seasons. A former Michigan graduate assistant who has coached at Northern Arizona and San Jose State, Stenavich was hired by the 49ers in 2017 and the Packers in 2019 as the replacement for James Campen, who is now the Houston Texans offensive line coach. Stenavich was praised by Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“Steno’ is a fantastic coach. He’s not just a good man, but he’s a really bright coach,” Rodgers said. “And I think he’s got a future above offensive line coach, for sure.”
