    The Las Vegas Raiders will interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles for their head coach opening this upcoming week.

    Todd Bowles’ latest interview for an NFL head coaching position will happen in a place of chance: Las Vegas. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator is scheduled to interview with the Raiders in Las Vegas on Thursday and get his chance to communicate his vision, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

    Todd Bowles to interview with the Raiders

    Bowles has also interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings. He impressed the Wilf family and other members of the organization, according to a source.

    The Raiders have also interviewed interim coach Rich Bisaccia and New England Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo. Additionally, they have an interest in talking with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans after the NFC Championship Game. Ryans has also interviewed with the Vikings and is regarded as one of their top candidates.

    Bowles and his career so far

    Bowles, 58, went 24-40 as the New York Jets head coach from 2015 to 2018. He was 2-1 in three games as interim coach for the Miami Dolphins.

    Tampa Bay’s DC is a former hard-hitting NFL safety for the Washington Football Team. On the whole, NFL teams hold him in high regard thanks to his defensive schemes and leadership.

    Bowles has an aggressive coaching style. The Buccaneers have a high blitz rate. They’re tied for the third-most sacks and turnovers and are fifth in average yards per play during his three seasons in Tampa Bay.

    What are the Raiders looking for in a head coach?

    For the Raiders, their head coach search will ultimately come down to finding synergy with the organization. Additionally, alignment with a new general manager will be critical.

    The Raiders have requested an interview with Tampa Bay executive John Spytek. Other candidates include Patriots executives Dave Ziegler and Eliot Wolf, Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds, Chicago Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly, Cincinnati Bengals executive Trey Brown, and Raiders director of pro personnel Dwayne Joseph.
