NFL postponed Washington vs. Eagles, Seahawks vs. Rams in Week 15
Leading up to the Week 15 slate of NFL games, a number of players throughout the NFL were put on the NFL reserve/COVID-19 list as a result of positive COVID tests. For the first time in the 2021 NFL season, the NFL and NFLPA had a major issue on their hands. They could either postpone games — as they did throughout the 2020 NFL season — or force teams’ hands to play without a number of starters and/or depth players.
The Cleveland Browns were one of the first teams to get hit hard with a large number of positive cases and have consequently had their game pushed back. Not long after, both the Washington Football Team vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup and the Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams game were pushed back. Originally, both contests were slated to be played on Sunday afternoon, but they’ve now been moved to Tuesday.
History of NFL games on Tuesday
NFL fans that want more football throughout the week have been spoiled the last two seasons. As the league works to make sure every game gets played, the NFL will be having its third and fourth Tuesday NFL games over the last two seasons.
To put that in perspective, the last Tuesday game before 2020 was played in 2010 between the Vikings and Eagles, and that was due to a snowstorm. Before that? 1948.
