The unfortunate reality of the NFL is that when players are allowed to go full speed, injuries are bound to happen. Week 13 of the NFL season was no exception. Now that fantasy football managers are updating their lineups for the coming week, several players have found themselves on the injury report, leaving their status for Week 14 up in the air.
Note that as more injury designations are announced on Friday, we will update the injury report to reflect the latest news.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update
With the weekend fast approaching, which signal-callers are in jeopardy of missing Week 14? May each player heal quickly.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Per the Bears’ practice report, Justin Fields (ribs) will not carry an injury designation into Sunday and will start after a week of full participation practices. Fields missed the last two games after he suffered multiple small rib fractures in a Week 11 loss to the Ravens.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
According to head coach Zac Taylor, Joe Burrow (finger) will have no limitations this week. Burrow injured the pinky on his throwing hand in Week 13 and was in obvious pain as he continued to play the rest of the game.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
After being a non-participant for Wednesday’s walkthrough due to an illness, Jared Goff was a full participant Friday ahead of the Lions’ game against the Denver Broncos per the team’s practice report and will not carry an injury designation.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Aaron Rodgers was back at practice on Friday and didn’t seem to be limited by his toe injury. Rodgers is managing a broken pinky toe and has not ruled out the possibility of surgery this season.
Barring any unforeseen setbacks, he is expected to play in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.
Mike Glennon, New York Giants
Dan Salomone of the Giants’ official site reports Mike Glennon (concussion) was a limited participant on Thursday. Head coach Joe Judge stated Glennon, who remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, is “moving in the right direction” and is expected to get in a full practice Friday and hopefully be cleared to play Sunday.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants
Dan Salomone of the Giants’ official site reports Daniel Jones (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday’s contest against the Chargers. Jones will miss his second straight game after straining his neck in Week 12.
RB Injury Update
How is the injury bug affecting RB committees heading into Week 14? Will fantasy managers need to make backup plans just in case?
Chase Edmonds, Arizona Cardinals
Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports that the Cardinals have designated Chase Edmonds (ankle) to return from the injured reserve, opening a 21-day window to activate Edmonds to the 53-man roster. Therefore, he can play as soon as Monday against the Los Angeles Rams, having missed the minimum three games required by NFL protocols.
David Montgomery, Chicago Bears
Per the Bears’ injury report, David Montgomery (shoulder/groin/glute) was a full participant for Friday’s practice. Montgomery saw his workload managed by the team in the lead-up to Week 14. He was a non-participant Wednesday, followed by a limited session Thursday, and a full practice on Friday.
Damien Williams, Chicago Bears
Damien Williams (calf) was a full participant Friday after back-to-back limited sessions to open the week. He will not have a designation for Week 14. Williams has been inactive since Week 8.
Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
Per the team’s injury report, Joe Mixon (illness) is questionable for Week 14. Mixon was unable to practice all week, but according to Geoff Hobson of the Bengals’ official site, head coach Zac Taylor believes Mixon will play against the 49ers.
We will have clarity on this situation when the Bengals release their inactives 90 minutes before their 4:25 PM ET kickoff.
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Ezekiel Elliott (knee) was a full participant all week and will not carry an injury designation into Week 14.
Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys
Fox NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports Tony Pollard (foot) is out for Week 14 against Washington. Pollard did not practice all week and this seemed the likeliest outcome. He will have a chance to play in Week 15 against the New York Giants.
Pollard stated earlier in the week he would likely be a game-time decision after suffering a torn plantar fascia (left foot) on a 58-yard touchdown run against New Orleans last week. JaQuan Hardy has been elevated from the practice squad as a contingency plan.
Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos
Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports Melvin Gordon (hip/shoulder) is questionable for Sunday. Per Stevens, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio believes the running back will be available for their game against the Lions. If Gordon plays, it’s unclear how the backfield shapes out after rookie Javonte Williams posted 178 total yards and a TD in his first game with the backfield to himself.
D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions
Tim Twentyman of the Lions’ official site reports D’Andre Swift (shoulder) has been ruled out of Week 14. With Swift missing back-to-back games and Jamaal Williams landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, the Lions will rely on Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike Sunday.
Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions
Twentyman also reported the Lions placed Jamaal Williams on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. Williams missed practice earlier in the week with a flu-related illness that has been spreading in the locker room. He returned to a full practice Friday before eventually being placed on the COVID-19 list.
It is not clear whether Williams tested positive or was a close contact, but he is the fourth player on the Lions added to the list this week and is highly unlikely to play.
David Johnson, Houston Texans
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports the Houston Texans have placed David Johnson on the COVID-19/reserve list and is out for their Week 14 game against Seattle.
James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official site reports James Robinson (heel/ankle) will not carry an injury designation into Week 14. Robinson was listed as questionable but recorded a full practice Friday.
On Thursday, Mark Long of the Associated Press reported that Robinson’s DNP was planned, and the Jaguars plan to give him Thursday’s off the remainder of the season as they manage his workload.
Jalen Richard, Las Vegas Raiders
Per reports, Jalen Richard was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday [December 6] due to a positive test he received just before their game on Sunday. The Raiders reported they were 100% vaccinated earlier in the season. If accurate, Richard could be available this weekend if he’s asymptomatic for at least 48 hours and tests negative for the virus twice at least 24 hours apart.
Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers
Per the team’s practice report, Austin Ekeler (ankle) will not carry an injury designation into Week 14 after recording a full practice on Friday.
Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams
Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports Darrell Henderson (thigh) was a limited practice participant Friday.
The Rams listed Henderson as active for last week’s game, but that was simply procedural as he did not record a single snap in Week 13. The Rams play the Cardinals Monday, giving Henderson an extra day to get healthier.
Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins
Myles Gaskin has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list following a positive test on Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Per Pelissero, Gaskin is fully vaccinated and will have a chance to test out of protocols ahead of next week’s game against the New York Jets. The Dolphins are on a bye this week.
Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints
Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports the Saints placed Ingram on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday [December 8]. Ingram tested positive and reportedly is vaccinated, so he has a chance to play Sunday but faces a tight window.
Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
Dan Salomone of the Giants’ official site reports Saquon Barkley (ankle) will not carry an injury designation into Week 14 after three straight limited practices.
Tevin Coleman, New York Jets
Rich Cimini of ESPN reports Tevin Coleman (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 14. Despite not leaving Sunday’s game, Coleman was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. He did not clear the medical requirements to play this weekend against the Saints. Ty Johnson and Austin Walter will be the primary RBs on Sunday.
Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Elijah Mitchell (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati. Mitchell is dealing with a knee contusion and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after exhibiting concussion-like symptoms on Monday despite being cleared during the 49ers’ Week 13 game. Per reports, Mitchell’s knee progressed well, but his concussion will keep him out of the game.
Trenton Cannon, San Francisco 49ers
On Monday [December 6], Wagoner reported Trenton Cannon (concussion) was released from the hospital. After taking a knee to the head on the opening kickoff, Cannon left Sunday’s game against the Seahawks in an ambulance.
Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco 49ers
Maiocco also reports that Jeff Wilson (knee), who participated in Fridays’ practice, will be the primary RB along with JaMycal Hasty for Week 14.
Alex Collins, Seattle Seahawks
John Boyle of the Seahawks’ official site reports Alex Collins (groin) will not carry an injury designation heading into Week 14. Head coach Pete Carroll told Brady Henderson of ESPN on Thursday that Collins feels “considerably better” after missing Week 13.
Travis Homer, Seattle Seahawks
Boyle also reported Travis Homer (calf/hamstring) has been ruled out of Week 14 against Houston. After logging a limited practice on Wednesday, Homer missed the final two sessions and will miss his second game of the season.
J.D. McKissic, Washington Football Team
According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post, J.D. McKissic (concussion) is inactive for Week 14 as he remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
