Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update

With the weekend vast approaching, which signal-callers are in jeopardy to miss Week 13?

    Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

On Friday [December 3] head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters QB Kyler Murray (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Week 13, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Murray was able to practice on Friday, albeit limited, but once again appears to be a question heading into Sunday.

Murray was listed as a game-time decision for the past three games despite being ruled out for each of them. The Cardinals play at 1:00 PM ET so at least this time fantasy managers will have the time to make a decision before rosters lock.

    Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Per the team’s injury report, Justin Fields (ribs) was a limited participant on Friday [December 3] and is listed as doubtful for their Week 13 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Andy Dalton is in line to make another start.

    Daniel Jones, New York Giants

According to the Giants Twitter account, head coach Joe Judge stated Daniel Jones (neck) has not been cleared for contact and has been ruled out for Sunday. Jones strained his neck on the second play of the game in Week 12 but finished the game. Mike Glennon will take over as the Giants’ QB against Miami.

    Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

According to Derrick Gunn, Jalen Hurts (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Head coach Nick Sirianni stated on Friday [December 4] that Hurts would be listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets, after splitting first-team practice reps evenly with Gardner Minshew this week, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. However, Hurts ankle clearly is an issue, and the team will head into Week 13 with Minshew under center.

    RB update

How is the injury bug affecting RB committees heading into Week 13? Will fantasy managers need to make backup plans just in case?

    Chris Evans, Cincinnati Bengals

Jay Morrison of The Atheltic reports Chris Evans (ankle) was a non-participant for the second straight day.

    Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos

Per Troy Renck of Denver7 News, the Broncos have ruled Melvin Gordon(hip/shoulder) out for Sunday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Gordon was trending towards missing all week. Making this call early gives fantasy managers one less question as they now have a concrete answer as to who will play.

Javonte Williams could be in line for the breakout game fantasy managers have been clamoring for in Week 13 with Gordon officially ruled out.

    D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have ruled out D’Andre Swift (shoulder) for Week 13. Swift is struggling with an AC joint sprain of his shoulder and could miss multiple weeks according to reports. Jamaal Williams is expected to lead the backfield and has RB2 upside.

    David Johnson, Houston Texans

Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790 Houston reports David Johnson (illness/thigh) did not practice Thursday. Several Texans are dealing with an illness and were DNPs Thursday, but there have been no reports to suggest this is a COVID-related illness.

    Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Minnesota Vikings have ruled Dalvin Cook (shoulder) out for Week 13 against the Detroit Lions. Eric Smith of the Vikings’ official site has previously reported Cook was not at practice on Thursday and was trending in this direction after injuring his shoulder in Week 12. Alexander Mattison will assume RB1 duties for the Vikings and brings top-6 upside for fantasy in any week Cook is absent from the roster.

    Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

After being added to the injury report on Thursday, Josh Jacobs (ankle) was in attendance for the Raiders’ practice on Friday, according to Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. On Wednesday, Jacobs was a full participant, so it is unclear if this injury occurred during Thursday’s session.

    Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams

Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports Darrell Henderson (thigh) will be listed as questionable for the Rams Week 13 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sony Michel would assume RB1 responsibilities should Henderson miss the game.

    Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles

Per Derrick Gunn, Boston Scott (illness) will be a game-time decision for Week 13. Scott is dealing with a non-COVID-related illness but seemed unlikely to suit up against the New York Jets on Sunday. Miles Sanders could have his best fantasy outing of the season against the worst rush defense in the NFL.

    Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles

McLane also reported Jordan Howard (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Howard hasn’t returned to practice and will miss a second straight game. The Eagles hope their upcoming Week 14 bye can provide enough time for Howard to recover and re-join the team.

    Alex Collins, Seattle Seahawks

John Boyle of the Seahawks’ official site reports Alex Collins (abdomen) was limited at Thursday’s practice.

    J.D. McKissic, Washington Football Team

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday [December 3] that Washington has ruled out J.D. McKissic (concussion) ahead of their Week 13 game against the Raiders. McKissic was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol following last week’s game.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: WR Injury Update

News for pass catchers is essential in PPR leagues. These are the fantasy-relevant WRs currently on the NFL’s Week 13 injury report.

    DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals

ESPN NFL Insider reports DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is a game-time decision, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Hopkins was not spotted during the session of practice open to the media. Kingsbury downplayed his absence, stating the team wanted to be “smart” with handling his injury. Hopkins has entered each of the last three games labeled a game-time decision despite eventually being ruled out for each contest.

Fantasy managers should receive a final answer regarding Hopkins status 90-minutes before the Cardinals 1:00 PM ET kickoff when inactives are required to be announced.

    Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

Per the team’s injury report, Allen Robinson (hamstring) was a non-participant during Friday’s practice. Robinson has yet to practice this week and is listed as doubtful for Week 13 against the Cardinals.

    Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports Brandin Cooks (illness) did not participate in the Texans’ practice on Thursday. Cooks was listed as a DNP on Wednesday as well while he deals with a non-COVID-related illness.

Odell Beckham Jr., Los Angeles Rams

Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported on Friday [December 3] Rams head coach Sean McVay said he would be surprised if Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) did not play on Sunday. Beckham Jr was a limited participant on Wednesday before sitting out Thursday’s session as the team manages his reps. USA Today’s Josina Anderson stated earlier in the week Beckham Jr. is dealing with a “hip pointer” injury near his SI joint.

    Sterling Shepard, New York Giants

Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) is listed as doubtful for Sunday. Shepard has missed six of the last eight games, including the last three straight.

    Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

Rosenblatt also reported Kadarius Toney (oblique/quad) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against Miami. He has been spotted workout with trainers on the side during practice. It seems unlikely Toney will suit up and miss his second straight game.

    Corey Davis, New York Jets

Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports Corey Davis (groin) was a limited participant in Friday’s practice and is listed as questionable for Week 13. Friday was the first time Davis was able to practice all week after missing Week 12. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Davis likely won’t play more than a part-time role against the Eagles, if he suits up at all.

    Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Deebo Samuel (groin) has been ruled out of Week 13 which was the expectation after injuring himself in Week 12. The 49ers and fantasy managers will need to adjust without the No. 2 WR in fantasy scoring on their roster.

    Curtis Samuel, Washington Football Team

Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports Curtis Samuel (groin) is listed as questionable ahead of Washingtons’ Week 13 game against the Raiders. Per John Keim of ESPN.com, Samuel is expected to play for a second straight week, and his role is expected to expand after exiting Week 12 with no further re-aggravations to his ailing groin.

    TE Injury Update

Which tight end injuries should we be mindful of when setting our Week 13 fantasy lineups? Who is in danger of missing their next game?

    Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders

According to Ian Rapoport, the Raiders have ruled Darren Waller (knee) out for Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team. TE Foster Moreau will become the Raiders No. 1 TE and beings under-the-radar fantasy upside given the Raiders’ reliance on the TE in the passing game.

    Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears

According to the Bears’ injury report, Cole Kmet (groin) was a limited participant on Thursday. Kmet sat out Wednesday’s practice but is trending towards playing on Sunday.

    Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

According to the Steelers’ injury report, Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was a full participant for Thursday’s practice. Freiermuth has logged back-to-back FPs after sustaining a concussion in Week 12. Friday’s report will reveal whether or not he has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
