While rankings and projections are beneficial, few things are more important in fantasy football than following injury updates. Injuries not only impact the player in question but the teammates and the offenses around them. Here’s an update on some critical injury reports to watch and their fantasy football impact.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update
Let’s go through the injuries currently impacting quarterbacks. Monitor these situations throughout the week and have contingency plans, if necessary.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff did not practice all week due to his oblique injury. He’s listed as doubtful, which means he’s out. Tim Boyle will make his first career start against the Browns this week.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson practiced Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions due to a non-COVID illness and carried no injury designation. Then, on Saturday, the Ravens added Jackson to the injury report due to his illness.
Jackson now appears legitimately questionable to play, with Adam Schefter reporting a league source believes it to be 50-50 whether he plays. The Ravens elevated Trace McSorley from the practice squad. He will back up Tyler Huntley if Jackson can’t play.
Sunday update: Jackson is inactive. Huntley will start.
Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield is not listed on the Browns’ final injury report. He is good to go.
Kyler Murray and Colt McCoy, Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray practiced all week for the first time since spraining his ankle. He is a legitimate game-time decision. With the Cardinals playing at 4 PM, fantasy managers will have to either roll the dice or make a call early. Colt McCoy practiced fully on Friday and will start if Murray can’t play.
Adam Schefter reported late Saturday night that signs heading into Sunday suggest it will be McCoy under center.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers returned to practice Friday. He never really seemed at risk of missing this week’s game. However, on Sunday morning both Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported that the toe injury was more than just an excuse for Rodgers to rest.
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger was cleared from COVID protocol on Saturday. Despite not practicing all week, he will return to the team and start Sunday night.
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
Zach Wilson’s knee is structurally fine. He could probably start, but the team is holding him out for at least one more week. Joe Flacco will start against the Dolphins.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: RB update
Fantasy managers can expect some running backs to make a return in Week 11. Meanwhile, others will be held out — including one player out for the season.
Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
Working his way back from a sprained ankle, Saquon Barkley got in three limited practices and is questionable for Monday night. All signs point to Barkley making his return.
Chris Carson, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks finally admitted the unfortunate truth we’ve known for weeks — Chris Carson is not returning this season. The team shut him down for the season, and he will undergo neck surgery with the hopes of returning at 100% in 2022. Alex Collins will lead this committee for the foreseeable future.
Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns
On Friday, the Browns activated Nick Chubb from the reserve/COVID-19 list. He will make his return this week against the Lions.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire practiced all week, and on Saturday, the Chiefs activated him off the injured reserve. CEH will make his return Sunday but should share work with Darrel Williams.
Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team
Antonio Gibson is not listed on the final injury report. He will continue to play through his shin injury.
Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Jones did not practice all week due to a sprained MCL. He’s out this week and is not going to play next week, either. Jones is likely to return following the Packers’ Week 13 bye.
Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints
Alvin Kamara’s MCL sprain will keep him out of another game. Mark Ingram is set to start in Week 11.
Jeremy McNichols, Tennessee Titans
The Titans ruled out Jeremy McNichols due to a concussion. Adrian Peterson and D’Onta Foreman will carry the load this week.
Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he will decide Sunday morning if Elijah Mitchell can play through his broken finger. If Mitchell can’t go, Jeff Wilson Jr. would start and handle the bulk of the work.
The 49ers play at 1 PM, so fantasy managers will know in time to adjust lineups.
Sunday update: Mitchell is inactive. Wilson will start.
Latavius Murray, Baltimore Ravens
Latavius Murray got in limited practices all week and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bears with an ankle injury. The Ravens released Le’Veon Bell earlier in the week and did not sign anyone else. So, expect Murray to play.
James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars listed James Robinson as questionable with knee and heel injuries. He played last week, so the expectation is he will play again, but we won’t know for sure until Sunday.
Sunday update: Robinson is active.
Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles
Miles Sanders practiced all week, and his sprained ankle looks fully healed. On Saturday, the Eagles activated him from the IR. He will return to action Sunday against the Saints.
D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions
D’Andre Swift (shoulder) got in a full practice Friday and was removed from the injury report. He’s good to go.
Damien Williams, Chicago Bears
Damien Williams practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, but was downgraded on Saturday to doubtful. He will miss another game on Sunday. This is the last time his name will appear on the injury report as it would take injuries to both David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert for Williams to matter in fantasy.
Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions
Jamaal Williams practiced in a limited fashion all week. He’s listed as questionable due to a thigh issue. Nevertheless, he is exected to play.
Sunday update: No surprise here. Williams is active.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: WR update
How are the fantasy-relevant wide receivers dealing with injuries? Let’s see which pass catchers may require a Plan B for Week 11’s action.
Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills
Cole Beasley was limited at practice (ribs) but carries no injury designation. He will play against the Colts.
Antonio Brown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Antonio Brown did not practice all week. He is out with his ongoing ankle issue.
Marquise Brown, Baltimore Ravens
Marquise Brown returned to a limited practice Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions. Initially, the Ravens listed him as questionable, but his thigh injury evidently did not recover enough over the weekend, and he’s out Sunday. Rashod Bateman will operate as the team’s WR1 with Sammy Watkins back in the fold in two-receiver sets.
Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys
On Friday, Amari Cooper tested positive for COVID-19. He’s out not just Sunday but for Thanksgiving as well. Michael Gallup will start alongside CeeDee Lamb in two-receiver sets.
Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers
Chase Claypool (toe) practiced fully on Friday and is not on the injury report. He’s playing Sunday.
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chris Godwin was limited all week with a foot injury, but he will play Monday.
DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals
DeAndre Hopkins will miss another game due to his strained hamstring. At no point over the past three weeks has he appeared even remotely close to playing. I would not consider him a lock to return following the bye week.
Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns
Jarvis Landry’s weekly routine of no practice, limited practice, and limited practice continues. The team is just managing his knee. Landry is not on the final injury report and is good to go.
Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears
Darnell Mooney was limited at practice all week due to a foot injury. He carries no injury designation and will play Sunday.
Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland Browns
Donovan Peoples-Jones is listed as questionable due to his groin injury. He has a chance to play in Week 11, but not a great chance according to a report from Rapoport.
Sunday update: DPJ is inactive.
Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
Allen Robinson did not practice all week due to a hamstring injury. The Bears listed him as doubtful, which means he’s out.
Curtis Samuel, Washington Football Team
I’m not sure why I bother including Curtis Samuel. Despite having not played since Week 5 due to a lingering groin injury, Samuel was never placed on the IR.
He returned to practice this week and is listed as questionable. He probably won’t play, and even if he does, he’s no guarantee to make it through the game.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers
Deebo Samuel practiced fully on Friday and is not listed on the team’s final injury report. His calf injury appears to be getting better each week. He will play in Week 11.
Sterling Shepard, New York Giants
Sterling Shepard did not practice all week due to a quad injury. He is out for Monday Night Football.
Fantasy Football Injury Report: TE update
Are there any tight end injuries we need to be concerned about? The TE market is already thin, so if you have a TE on this injury report, your alternatives will, in all likelihood, be grim.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
Head coach Nick Sirianni said Dallas Goedert is on track to play this week. They expect him to clear the concussion protocol and be active.
Rob Gronkowski, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rob Gronkowski practiced fully Thursday and Friday and looked set to return Monday night. However, he did not practice Saturday and is listed as questionable due to his ongoing back issue. It seems to just be a maintenance day, but we’ve learned over the years never to take Gronk’s status for granted.
Ricky Seals-Jones and Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team
Ricky Seals-Jones is out Sunday due to his hip injury, and Logan Thomas remains on the IR with his hamstring strain.
