Sunday’s Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets game features two teams with similar records despite very different expectations. The Dolphins entered 2021 with playoff aspirations after narrowly missing the postseason last year. However, they enter Sunday a disappointing 3-7. The Jets, meanwhile, are embarking on a rebuild and a new era with second overall pick Zach Wilson. They find themselves at 2-7. Let’s take a look at the current NFL odds, the TV channel, how to live stream this Week 11 matchup, and a Dolphins vs. Jets prediction.
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets prediction and odds | Week 11
- Spread: Dolphins -3 (Odds from DraftKings sportsbook)
- Moneyline: Dolphins -160, Jets +140
- Over/Under: 45 (Over -110, Under -110)
The only games that the Jets have covered in 2021 are their two surprising victories — as 11.5-point underdogs against the Bengals and 5.5-point underdogs against the Titans. In their other seven games (all losses), the Jets have failed to cover and often times have been non-competitive.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, come in 4-5-1 against the spread. Additionally, the Dolphins are 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Jets and have covered four of the last five in New Jersey.
The total for this game is a bit low — the third-lowest on the board. Considering both teams’ offensive woes, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Jets are averaging just 17.9 points per game, while the Dolphins are managing only 17.7. That said, the over has cashed in six of New York’s nine games this year. Historically, however, the under has been the king of this rivalry, having cashed in five of the last six meetings and in each of the four games at MetLife Stadium.
Dolphins vs. Jets prediction
On Monday, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores told the assembled media that Tua Tagovailoa is expected to start at quarterback as he nurses his way back from a finger injury on his throwing hand. That said, it might not matter which Dolphins quarterback is under center.
Miami’s offense appears only marginally better this season with Tua than with Jacoby Brissett. A big part of that, of course, is the heinous offensive line these quarterbacks are forced to play behind.
This unit has been an albatross for Miami’s offense all season long. They have been unable to provide any running room for the team’s RBs, ranking third-worst in the NFL in rushing yards before contact (2.0). They’ve been equally ineffective at protecting the quarterback, surrendering a league-high 114 pressures while allowing pressure on more than a quarter of the club’s dropbacks, per Pro Football Reference.
Will the Jets be able to take advantage of Miami’s porous offensive line? This is a team that is generating pressure on just 22.5% of their opposing team’s dropbacks. Furthermore, They average just 2.2 sacks per game. Yet, the Jets do blitz 23.1% of the time (16th-most in NFL), and we should expect them to send extra rushers on Sunday to exploit Miami’s inability to pass protect.
Defensive performance could be key
Ultimately, this game will likely come down to the Jets’ ability to move the ball against a Dolphins defense that has been playing very well the last three weeks. In their two wins, the Jets have scored 34 and 27 points, respectively, while averaging 433 total yards of offense. Both wins were at home. This isn’t a coincidence, either. New York averages a full yard per play more at home than on the road.
The Dolphins defense, though, has looked more like the 2020 version these last three weeks, allowing only 4.6 yards per play since Week 8 (fourth-lowest in the NFL). That includes games against two of the AFC’s best offenses — the Bills and Ravens.
New York’s defense, meanwhile, could be the elixir to fix all that ails Miami’s offense. The Jets have surrendered 32.9 points per game in 2021, the worst in the league. And in their last three games, they have allowed a whopping 40.3 points per outing.
In other words, if there was ever a “get right” game for an offense, this is the one for Tua and the Dolphins.
Dolphins vs. Jets Prediction: Dolphins 27, Jets 20
