The New York Jets (2-5) face off against the Indianapolis Colts (3-5) tonight on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 9. The Colts have won three of their last five games as they slowly see players return to the field from various injuries. Can they grab another win tonight, or will the Jets start a two-game win streak of their own? What to expect from tonight’s Jets vs. Colts game?
After losing the first three games of the season, the Colts have turned things around a bit — despite some less than ideal circumstances. Can they fight off backup QB Mike White and the Jets’ offense from getting their second straight win?
Zach Wilson is still out
Rookie QB Zach Wilson remains out with a sprained PCL in his right knee, giving White his second start of the season. Regardless, it doesn’t matter whether it’s Wilson or White, they both have issues turning the ball over. The Colts are +8 in turnovers and are tied for the most takeaways in the league this season with 18. They should definitely grab a couple more tonight during Thursday Night Football.
In Week 7, the Colts sacked Titans QB Ryan Tannehill 3 times and intercepted him twice. If New York wants any chance of winning back-to-back games this season, they need to play mistake-free football in Thursday Night Football tonight.
The Colts still have key absences
While the Jets respond to Wilson’s knee injury, Indianapolis faces a few injuries of their own. WR T.Y. Hilton remains out of practice with a concussion, and guard Quenton Nelson has been downgraded to “did not practice” with a toe injury. While Hilton’s loss is huge, WR Michael Pittman Jr. has stepped up in his absence. Expect Pittman to have a big night against an inexperienced Jets defense.

In Thursday Night Football tonight, second-year RB Jonathan Taylor should run all over a defense that’s giving up over 100 yards a game. Furthermore, Colts QB Carson Wentz should string some plays together, and more importantly, take care of the football, which should give the Colts their fourth win in six games.
