Daniel Jones didn’t take a snap during Week 1 of the NFL preseason, but is he playing in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns? Jones enters his third season as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants. Soon, the Giants must decide the future of the franchise at QB.
Is Daniel Jones playing tonight?
Jones did not play against the Browns. Instead, Mike Glennon got the start. Had Jones started, he would have been without starters such as Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, and Kyle Rudolph. They’re all still working back from injury.
The Giants’ WR room has expanded
Jones finally has a group of weapons worthy of going into battle with on Sundays. Kenny Golladay is a physical presence on the field. Golladay wasn’t their only free-agent addition, either. No, they went out and added John Ross also. They already had Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton on campus. But for some unknown reason, they still weren’t finished. After trading back in Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft, they selected Kadarius Toney.
Jones has flashed some high-end play from time to time, but his inability to keep the ball off the turf has taken a chunk out of fan’s appetites. Ball security must be his top priority in 2021.
What will New York’s offense look like under Jason Garrett?
However, Jones is already working with a small sedan tied behind his waist. See, his offensive coordinator is Jason Garrett. It appears as though Joe Judge is the only human with breath still in their lungs that believes he’s a viable offensive coordinator candidate in the year 2021. If Jones performs well this season, it will be in spite of Garrett, and the Giants might feel a lot better about Jones’ future.
