Are there NFL games Sunday?
The NFL preseason action continues today with the final game of the weekend at 1 PM ET. It is somewhat surprising that the NFL has the game so early on a Sunday that otherwise contains no high-level football. It appears as though the NFL is just easing into the preseason. Panthers vs. Colts prediction
The Panthers trading for Sam Darnold already made this an interesting contest. However, the injuries to the Colts only further enhance the intrigue. Now, rather than watching Darnold and Carson Wentz acclimatizing to a new offense, we will see a potential battle for a Week 1 starter in Indianapolis.
The balance for the Colts will be keeping their offensive starters on the field long enough to help Sam Ehlinger and Jacob Eason while not exposing them to injury. Given they have lost their QB and their best offensive lineman, that is a serious concern.
Equally, the Panthers have little to figure out other than getting Darnold game reps in the offense. They will not want to risk the likes of Christian McCaffrey, Robby Anderson, and D.J. Moore. Therefore, this is a tough game to predict.
Current NFL odds have the Colts as marginal favorites. That is somewhat surprising given the Colts’ injury concerns and how cautious that may make them in this one. There is a real chance we do not see much of the Colts’ main starters on either side of the ball, especially the offensive line and key skill position players.
