It has not been a great preseason for the Lions. They were beaten by a Bills team who did not play many of their starters before a late showing against the Steelers prevented them from being thoroughly embarrassed.
Meanwhile, the Colts have not looked great, but they have been competitive. The main reason for that is, with the status of Carson Wentz up in the air for Week 1, there is currently a battle between Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger for the starting QB role. That motivation has led to the Colts playing hard through all four quarters.
These two narratives are likely to repeat again this week, hence the Colts being favored by a fairly decent margin. Unless the Colts decide to shut it down in the second half, it would be a surprise to see the Lions win this one.
Detroit’s offense has looked awful this year, but a total in the low 30s is extremely low. Still, if it goes over, it likely will not be by much. Yet, if you are going to play a side on this, the over would be my slight lean.
