When can teams trade again in 2022?
While NFL teams can discuss trades at any point following the 2021 trade deadline, they cannot officially make a trade until the new season begins. That date is expected to be in the middle of March.
In 2021, we saw a trade involving Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford agreed upon ahead of the new league year. Still, the trade was not officially processed until the new league year began.
Which notable players were moved at the 2020 NFL trade deadline?
The trade deadline itself can often be somewhat anti-climactic. In 2020, the deadline saw rumors regarding both Stephon Gilmore and Will Fuller. Ultimately, both players remained with their respective teams. On the contrary, we saw smaller deals completed for the likes of DeAndre Washington and Isaiah Ford.

A handful of players were traded leading up to the deadline itself
The action around the NFL trade deadline really kicked off just over a week beforehand. The first domino to fall was the Baltimore Ravens trading for Yannick Ngakoue. It was actually the second time that Ngakoue was traded in the span of a few months. Initially, the Minnesota Vikings shipped the edge rusher to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
More pass rushers were moved in the following days. The Arizona Cardinals acquired Markus Golden from the New York Giants on October 23. Everson Griffen then moved from the Dallas Cowboys to the Detroit Lions a week before the deadline. The following day saw Carlos Dunlap join the Seattle Seahawks from the Cincinnati Bengals.
Linebackers and defensive backs rounded off the final deals before the deadline. The Pittsburgh Steelers first acquired Avery Williamson from the New York Jets. The New Orleans Saints then added Kwon Alexander in exchange for Kiko Alonso and a conditional fifth-round selection. Finally, Desmond King made the move from the Los Angeles Chargers to the Tennessee Titans on November 2.
