The long-awaited pro day schedule got off to a fast start today in Kansas where a dozen NFL teams were on hand to watch the Jayhawks’ Pro Day. The main attraction on Friday was 2021 NFL Draft prospect RB Pooka Williams, who did not disappoint.
Kansas Pro Day: How did Pooka Williams perform?
Williams measured in at 5’9 1/2″ and 175 pounds and was clocked between 4.36 to 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash by many of the scouts on hand. He touched 33 inches in the vertical jump and 9’9″ in the broad jump. His unofficial shuttle time came in at 4.01 seconds and 6.87 seconds in the three-cone drill.
During the Kansas Pro Day, Williams did position drills at running back, receiver, and punt returner, looking terrific in all three spots. In my latest big board, Pooka Williams comes in 368th as the 30th-ranked running back. He currently projects to sign with a team as an undrafted free agent.
Nevertheless, Williams met with the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears at the pro day in Kansas. The Niners are really dialed into Williams, who would be a great fit for their system.
What were Pooka Williams’ stats while at Kansas?
Williams played three seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks. During that time, he carried the ball 415 times for 2,382 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, Williams added 66 receptions for 534 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.
After Kansas, what is the next pro day on the calendar?
Beyond the Kansas Pro Day, the Northwestern Pro Day kicks off next week. Quarterback Peyton Ramsey has been getting a lot of early love from teams. Furthermore, the Indiana quarterback has spent a ton of time with the New Orleans Saints in Zoom meetings leading up to the pro day. Ramsey is a Taysom Hill clone, as he’s a creative quarterback adept at producing yardage with his arm or legs.
