‘5th Rounder,’ ‘Interesting’ – Fans Have Mixed Reactions on Texas’ Isaiah Bond NFL Draft Decision

On Tuesday, Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond announced he would enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Though still eligible to play college football next season, Bond has decided that now is the time to begin his professional journey. As a result, individuals on social media have started discussing where they believe the talented receiver could be taken in next April’s draft.

In 2024, Bond had 34 receptions for 540 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. In addition, he added 98 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Bond transferred to Texas from the Alabama Crimson Tide before the beginning of this past season.

Social Media Reaction to Isaiah Bond’s NFL Draft Decision

ESPN broke the news about Bond’s decision to declare for the NFL Draft and detailed how he was the No. 6 wide receiver available on analyst Mel Kiper’s draft board.

“Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is leaving school early to enter the 2025 NFL draft, he told @PeteThamel. Bond ranks as the No. 6 overall wide receiver in ESPN analyst @MelKiperESPN ‘s NFL draft rankings,”

In response, one individual explained how they viewed Bond as a fifth round draft pick next year.

    “5th rounder,” they said.

Another X user explained how the decision to declare was interesting.

    “Interesting decision,” they simply put.

Finally, one person expressed a much different tone and outlined their belief that Bond would be a star player in the NFL.

“He’s gonna be a stud in the Pros,” they stated.

    Bond’s 2025 NFL Draft Projection

Bond is a quick and explosive route-running receiver who has the ability to be a big-play threat in the NFL. He also has strong hands and is able to separate from opposing defenders with ease.

In Pro Football Network’s latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft completed by Jacob Infante, Bond was selected No. 27 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Mike Tomlin could drag out a team of middle schoolers and still find a way to finish the year above .500. The Steelers have a bonafide WR1 in George Pickens, but they could use an upgrade alongside him in their starting lineup.

“Isaiah Bond’s collegiate production might not wow you — he hasn’t topped 700 receiving yards in a season before — but his tape certainly will. He’s an elite downfield threat with tremendous speed and impressive twitch coming out of his breaks. With him as the smaller, shiftier speed demon opposite the big-bodied Pickens, the Steelers could provide a strong wide receiver duo, not just for Russell Wilson but for his eventual successor, as well.”
