5 Potential WR3 Targets for the Eagles: Noah Brown, Treylon Burks, and Others

    Published on

There are plenty of rumors floating around about the Eagles searching for help at WR3. Which potential targets could Philadelphia be eyeing?

As the Philadelphia Eagles look to make another Super Bowl run, there is one massive question remaining on the team’s offense: Who will fill the void at WR3 next to the dynamic duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith?

According to multiple reports, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is considering making an addition to the position before Week 1 of the regular season. While Johnny Wilson and Britain Covey have shown flashes during training camp and preseason, they aren’t ready for a full-time role just yet.

Roseman is no stranger to making moves just ahead of the regular season to address glaring needs. Therefore, here are potential WR3 targets that Roseman could have his eyes on for the Eagles.

Who Could the Eagles Target To Fill the Void at WR3?

    1) Noah Brown, Houston Texans

Considering that the Eagles will potentially be making an addition right before the start of the regular season, it would make sense to target a player familiar with Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s scheme. Therefore, Houston Texans wide receiver Noah Brown is a perfect target.

As Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice mentioned, Brown and Moore were together for six seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Although Brown re-signed with the Texans this offseason, Houston traded for Stefon Diggs and signed Nico Collins to a massive contract extension. Brown could be available for the right price, which Philadelphia might be willing to meet.

    2) Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans

The Eagles have a history of trading for wide receivers from the Tennessee Titans. While the team’s first deal for Dorial Green-Beckham didn’t work out well, they landed a superstar in a blockbuster deal for Brown. Could Roseman give the Titans a call again?

Ironically, Tennessee selected Treylon Burks with the pick they received from Philadelphia in the deal for Brown. After two disappointing seasons with the Titans, Burks could potentially be on the move after being relegated to backup duty. Burks could benefit from a change of scenery, and he actually caught an impressive touchdown against the Eagles in 2022.

    3) Cedrick Wilson Jr., New Orleans Saints

Cedrick Wilson Jr. spent four seasons with Moore in Dallas, including the best season of Wilson’s career in 2021. Wilson became an efficient target for Moore’s Cowboys that season, hauling in 45 receptions on 61 targets for 602 yards and six touchdowns.

Although Wilson signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints this offseason, the Eagles might be willing to trade for a familiar target that Moore has experience with. If the Saints are willing to part with Wilson, it seems like an easy decision for Roseman to make.

    4) John Metchie III, Houston Texans

The Texans are absolutely stacked at wide receiver and have multiple players that the Eagles should be calling about. John Metchie III has endured quite a battle to begin his career in the NFL, as he battled acute promyelocytic leukemia during his rookie season.

Now Metchie is fighting for a roster spot in Houston, after underwhelming in a stacked wide receiver room last season. While Metchie isn’t familiar with Moore, he does have experience working with DeVonta Smith from their days together at Alabama.

    5) Zach Pascal, Arizona Cardinals

While Zach Pascal didn’t put up huge numbers for the Eagles in 2022, he played a crucial role in Philadelphia’s rushing attack. Pascal was a solid blocker who proved to be a surprisingly efficient target in the passing game as well.

Thanks to the additions of Marvin Harrison Jr. and Zay Jones, Pascal could potentially be available in Arizona. If Nick Sirianni and Roseman want to reunite with Pascal as a potential addition at WR3, it could make sense ahead of the regular season.

    Honorable Mentions

    • Robert Woods, Houston Texans: Woods could be the odd man out in Houston as the Texans look to embrace a younger group of talented wide receivers.
    • Simi Fehoko, Los Angeles Chargers: Fehoko spent time with Moore in both Dallas and Los Angeles. He could be a sneaky addition if he’s released during final cuts.
    • Isaiah Hodgins, New York Giants: Hodgins enjoyed a Travis Fulgham-esque run with the Giants. Could the Eagles be interested in his potential upside?
    • Jonathan Mingo, Carolina Panthers: Mingo has failed to impress to start his NFL career, and the Panthers could be willing to move on if continues to struggle in Carolina.
    • Rakim Jarrett, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Eagles wanted to select Jarrett in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Could the Buccaneers part with him in 2024?
    • Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams: Thanks to the rise of Demarcus Robinson and Jordan Whittington, Atwell is suddenly tumbling down the Rams’ depth chart at WR.
    • Dee Eskridge, Seattle Seahawks: It’s no secret that Eskridge has failed in Seattle as a former second-round pick. The Eagles could be willing to bet on his speed and upside.
    • Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers: Thielen could be in for a huge year in Dave Canales’ offensive scheme, yet he might be available if the Panthers want to get younger at WR.
    • Xavier Hutchinson, Houston Texans: Sirianni has ties to Iowa State, where Hutchinson played in college. If he’s available, Sirianni will know all about his potential fit in Philadelphia.
    • Ashton Dulin, Indianapolis Colts: Dulin spent two seasons in Indianapolis with Sirianni as his offensive coordinator. Despite limited touches, he’s flashed big-play ability at times.
