Fred Warner Thinks 49ers Win Multiple Titles With Brock Purdy

Make no mistake: Warner believes in Purdy and his ability to lead the “Team by the Bay” to multiple Super Bowl titles.

Purdy might have been Mr. Irrelevant when he was drafted out of Iowa State, but Warner’s superlatives cannot come close enough to describe what Purdy means to him and the rest of the 49ers.

“First of all, let me say, ‘Purdy, I love you, man.’” Warner said. “‘Thank you for being my quarterback.’ Brock Purdy, last pick in the draft. Nobody even knew who this kid was. He was our scout team quarterback in 2022 when we had probably the best defense in the league.

“He’s in there at practice with the no-look passes, dicing our defense up every single week. I’m back there pissed off. I’m giving it to him and he’s giving it back to me with the trash talk.”

Warner, a four-time Pro Bowl player appeared on ESPN’s “Postseason NFL Countdown” on Sunday. He discussed everything from the state of the 49ers to Purdy’s future in San Francisco. He was asked if there was ever any doubt in Purdy’s ability to deliver a title.

“Not at all,” Warner said. “Brock Purdy, he’s the man. He will be the 49ers quarterback for a very, very, very long time with plenty of Super Bowl rings on his fingers. He’s about to be a very rich man soon, and I can’t wait to see it.”

Purdy had a challenging 2024 season after he broke through in 2023 and led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance. Purdy recovered from elbow surgery and was nicked up at the end of the season.

In the preseason, during training camp, Warner was on with Kay Adams from “Up & Adams” and defended Purdy, who was throwing a lot of interceptions in practice.

Warner told Adams, “From Day 1, I’ve been a Brock Purdy fan and I always will be. I think he’s one of the best in the league, and soon I think he will be the best — undisputed.”

Warner continued, “People want to make something out of practice interceptions and all that other stuff. Listen, you’ve obviously never been in the NFL if you’re writing stories about interceptions in practice. Like Deebo mentioned, he’s going against one of the best defenses in the league. So, we’re not worried about that.”
