The major portion of the 2024 free agency cycle is over, but that doesn’t mean the 49ers can’t attempt to add to their roster. Additionally, that means the mock draft season is continuing at full speed. You can’t forget Aiyuk news either. All of that and more in today’s 49ers news!

Brock Wright Signs 49ers Offer Sheet

While most of free agency involves unrestricted free agents, who can sign with whoever they want, this news involves a restricted free agent. After going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, tight end Brock Wright signed with the Lions, where he’s spent his entire career.

With his status, the Lions placed a one-year, non-guaranteed $2.985 million tender ahead of free agency. As a result, the 49ers signed him to an offer sheet according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Lions will have five days to match the 49ers’ offer, and if they don’t, he will join San Francisco.

Brandon Aiyuk Opens Up on Contract Talks With 49ers

It’s nothing new that there are rumors of a potential Aiyuk trade. A majority of those rumors come from the idea that the 49ers will not want to pay Aiyuk the money he will command on a new deal. However, general manager John Lynch dismissed those rumors, claiming that the organization is in active talks with Aiyuk on a long-term deal.

Now, Aiyuk has gone on the Nightcap podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson to share his side of the story. “I’m trying to get what I deserve,” Aiyuk said.

“I feel like this season, this season playing football, I figured out who I was as a person and a player, what I bring to the table, what I bring to the locker room, what I bring to the organization. And just the value I hold when I walk in that building,” Aiyuk said.

“I’ve done it the right way. If they don’t see the worth in that [makes a walking motion with hands], that’s all it is,” Aiyuk said. “It ain’t nothing else besides that. I can’t get into it. We got professionals working on both sides, so hopefully, we can come to a professional agreement and continue playing professional football.”
