While Fred Warner and the San Francisco 49ers couldn’t lift the Lombardi Trophy last year, the Philadelphia Eagles got through in Super Bowl 59. With their victory, several new superstars have emerged.
However, All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner of the 49ers couldn’t help but be impressed by Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

Fred Warner Is Blown Away by DeVonta Smith’s Achievements
It’s no secret that Smith is a generational talent. The 26-year-old was one of the key players in taking the Eagles all the way, despite their run-heavy game this season. This led to Warner looking up Smith’s résumé — the linebacker was impressed, to say the least.
“DeVonta Smith; Heisman Trophy winner, National Champion, and now Super Bowl champion,” Warner said. “I mean that’s insane, insane résumé. I think he’s only 26, it’s kinda nuts.”

Smith won the CFP National Championship twice with Alabama in 2017 and in 2020. Along with capturing the National Championship, he secured the Heisman Trophy, solidifying his name in college football history.
He was drafted in the first round by the Eagles in 2021 as the 10th overall pick and has served as a staple for the franchise, becoming a key piece to Philadelphia’s Super Bowl 59 win.
Warner Throws Brandon Aiyuk Under the Bus
The Niners suffered a horrific season coming off their Super Bowl trip last season. While many believed the cause behind this horrendous display was the multitude of injuries, the Niners linebacker added another cause to the list.

During his podcast, “The Warner House,” the 28-year-old highlighted the problems caused by Aiyuk’s contract negotiation tactics playing a part as well. “We’re just talking about Brandon Aiyuk and the battles that he and me had in camp,” he said.
“He was not there all camp. Why? Because of a contract dispute, people were like, ‘Oh well, you know he’ll be back ready to go.’ I’m like, ‘you don’t understand there is a level of competition that has to occur, and timing not only for me and Brock Purdy, I am talking about as a team.’”
