‘John Lynch, Get on the Phone Now!’ – 49ers Fans Want Team To Trade for Maxx Crosby After Davante Adams’ Raiders Exit

With Davante Adams getting traded to the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers fans urge the team to pursue Raiders star Maxx Crosby.

After Davante Adams got traded to the New York Jets, many wondered whether Maxx Crosby would be available as well. The 27-year-old Raiders star is one of the best players in the NFL, and multiple teams would love to have him on their roster.

The San Francisco 49ers did not make any big moves in the offseason, and with the team being 3-3, some of their fans want them to add Crosby. Nick Bosa and Crosby on the same defensive line — it’s an intriguing proposition.

49ers Fans Ask Team To Pursue Maxx Crosby

49ers fans on X requested general manager John Lynch to make a call to the Raiders and make an aggressive effort to get Crosby. Here’s how the fans reacted:

“Trade for Maxx Crosby and the 49ers’ D-line room will be unstoppable after November 5th,” said one fan.

“That’d be a perfect fit, better than the previous Bosa and Young duo!” added another fan.

“Would give whatever draft picks are required for this to happen this year,” said a 49ers fan on X.

The 49ers released Arik Armstead before the start of the season and lost Chase Young in free agency. The team will undoubtedly be looking to add a pass rusher to pair with Bosa. As of now, they are not the clear-cut best team in the NFC, and if they want to get to   another Super Bowl, the team has to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline.

Their defense has recorded 16.0 sacks through six games and is allowing an average of 21.7 points and 328.8 yards of total offense per game this year. The 49ers would want to improve on these numbers, and a player like Crosby or even Haason Reddick would be a valuable addition to their team.

Can the 49ers Afford Crosby’s Contract?

In 2022, Crosby signed a four-year, $94 million contract extension with the Raiders. Per Spotrac, the defensive end will account for $16.8 million in 2024 against the salary cap of the team that acquires him via a trade. In 2025, he is due to get paid a non-guaranteed amount of $23.1 million, dropping to $19.7 million in 2026.

The 49ers currently have $54.19 million in cap space and could easily afford Crosby’s contract. They can even trade for Reddick from the New York Jets and sign him to a contract extension. San Francisco is projected to have $38.6 million in cap space next year.

If the 49ers want to make a last “all-in” effort to win the Super Bowl before offering a lucrative contract to Brock Purdy, this is the year. They have enough cap space to afford the contract of a star player like Crosby. Although they might face competition from the Detroit Lions if the Raiders make the three-time Pro Bowler available for trade, San Francisco should try their best and get him to line up alongside Bosa.

In five games this year, Crosby has recorded 5.5 sacks, 20 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, and two pass deflections.
