Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s injury in the loss against the Kansas City Chiefs has broken the hearts of football fans around the world. However, none are more taken aback than those close to the wide receiver.
In this tough time for Aiyuk and his girlfriend Rochelle Searight, the San Francisco 49ers have stood up and shown solidarity.
49ers Fans Support Brandon Aiyuk and Family After Injury
Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL during the second half of last Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, and it has been confirmed that his season has been cut short.
Aiyuk’s longtime girlfriend Rochelle took to TikTok to upload pictures from her visit to Levi’s Stadium.
“Last game of the season,” she captioned her post while putting up several pictures of herself from the game. 49ers fans took to her post to pour their support for Rochelle and her family consisting of Aiyuk’s son.
“Sending lots of prayers,” commented one fan.
“Praying for your little family,” added another.
“Praying for a speedy recovery,” replied one fan.
“This hurts, sending love to your little family,” one more fan commented.
“Sending healing vibes,” one 49ers fan commented.
“Wishing a good recovery,” added another fan.
“I’m so sorry, sweet girl! Prayers to you all, next year will be amazing!” one fan wrote.
Aiyuk ends his season with 25 receptions in seven games for 374 yards and no touchdowns to his name.
Aiyuk’s Injury Opens Door for Several Others
Aiyuk held out the entirety of this past offseason for an extension; the 26-year-old got his wish and signed a $120 million contract. Now in his absence, veterans such as Deebo Samuel Sr. and George Kittle will have to pick up the mantle.
The Niners are suffering from a ton of injuries to their pivotal players this season, including star running back Christian McCaffrey. But at the wide receiver position, the 49ers will have to bank on rookies.
At its disposal, San Francisco has two flashy rookie receivers with great potential in Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing. Both players are expected to get their shot this Sunday, when the Niners welcome the Dallas Cowboys for their Week 8 fixture.
