The Deebo Samuel Sr. saga has gotten underway in San Francisco. After spending the first six years of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, the dual-threat wide receiver demanded a trade in lieu of declining production in recent seasons.
Since then, rumors and reports have emerged aplenty. However, alongside the authentic reports, there has been a ton of made-up instances floating around. Never one to shy away from the conversation, Samuel himself shut down one such report on X.

Deebo Samuel Sr. Debunks Fake Comments After Trade Request
The interest in a former Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection is obvious and legitimate. While he hasn’t met the same standards since, partly because of the plethora of weapons in San Francisco, Samuel is the same guy who tallied over 1,400 receiving yards in 2021.
As a result, some fans went a nasty route, creating a fake report of the superstar wide receiver quoting, “When you’re the best player in the locker room, that’s a problem,” as a reason for wanting to go to a Super Bowl contender.
However, Samuel was having none of it. Personally replying to the quote, he cleared the air while calling out people making up fake stuff about him.
“Like what’s wrong with yall folks…
Like what’s wrong with yall folks… like I said folks make any story for clicks. Carryon!!!

“Like I said folks many any story for clicks. Carryon!!! Not once said this!”
It isn’t the first time Samuel has had to clear the air on something like this, although he did delete his reply the last time.
It was Tim Kawakami on “The TK Show” who reported that Samuel was “not in shape…20 pounds overweight. And that led to a lot of his lack of explosion.”
Even then, Samuel had a similar response, “people make up anything in they head!!!!”
The report’s accuracy, however, doesn’t take away from the fact that the 2024 season was one Samuel would surely like to forget. With just 806 scrimmage yards, the lowest total of his career since 2020, when he appeared in just seven games, it wasn’t a great year by any stretch of the imagination.
While his overall numbers dropped, Samuel’s overall effectiveness on the field was a shell of his former self. There were multiple games where he tallied under 30 total yards, with him totaling under 25 receiving yards on eight occasions.
Still, it seems like there is a market for the disgruntled star, with multiple teams showing an interest in him. Yet, if it comes to Samuel’s choice, it looks like he has his eyes on the Denver Broncos.
Speaking to Bleacher Report, Samuel named the Broncos as a team to keep an eye on, and seemed enamored by rookie Bo Nix and the defense, which he termed “outrageous.”
Per PFSN’s Defense+ metric, Denver was the best defense in the NFL. Adding Samuel could give the Broncos another weapon alongside Courtland Sutton and potentially unlock Nix as a premier quarterback. Simultaneously, any trade would finally quieten down some of the extra noise surrounding the wide back, as he likes to refer to himself.
