3x Patriots Super Bowl Champion Throws Shade at Josh Allen and Bills Amid Chiefs Referee Controversy

Julian Edelman dropped a blunt message for the Buffalo Bills following a close loss against the Kansas City Chiefs amid ref favoritism rumors.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills during the AFC showdown in a nail-biting 32-29 matchup on Sunday (Jan. 26), advancing to their fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes and Co. are gearing up to become the only team to win a three-peat in NFL history.

Discussing if the Chiefs’ potential Super Bowl win will be lowballed due to the stamp of being favored by the league, Patriots icon Julian Edelman made a blunt statement on the situation.

Julian Edelman Discuss Chiefs, Referee Controversy

During the NFL Divisional Round between the Chiefs and the Houston Texans, many fans and analysts called out the game’s officials for making calls favoring Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Both the controversial calls were made in the first quarter of the game — one came when Chiefs defensive back Bryan Cook hip-drop tackled Texans tight end Dalton Schultz. In the second play, Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. was flagged for roughing the passer on Mahomes.

The conversation grew louder when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the league is possibly expanding NFL replay. The whole article was based on the Mahomes vs. Texans matchup, which wasn’t well-received by Chiefs supporters.

Discussing the matter on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Edelman asked Eisen some hard-hitting questions. “I got a question for you: Do referees drop footballs? Do referees go for fourth downs over and over with the same play and get stuffed? Do they throw interceptions? No,” Edelman detailed. “We all do business as business is being done in the league.”

The Patriots legend further expressed his frustration and said that he’s sick and tired of this narrative that the league is helping the Chiefs in any way.

“It’s a bunch of bologna that the league is helping the Kansas City Chiefs,” Edelman said on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“If you want to beat them, go beat them… I’m so sick and tired of hearing people say that about the Chiefs.”

Super Bowl 59 is set to take place on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m ET.
