2025 NFL Draft Phenom Ashton Jeanty Reveals His Favorite Team and It’s Not the Dallas Cowboys

    Published on

Boise State's star running back, Ashton Jeanty, recently revealed his favorite NFL team, and surprisingly, it wasn't the Dallas Cowboys.

Ashton Jeanty is regarded as one of the best prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Boise State running back has put up huge numbers in his final year of college football and has positioned himself to get drafted early in the first round.

Jeanty has often been linked with the Dallas Cowboys as the NFC East team desperately needs a new running back, and due to their record, they will be in a position to draft the 20-year-old star.

Jeanty went to high school in Texas, but surprisingly, his favorite team is not Dallas. He recently revealed the team he is a fan of, which may surprise some people.

Ashton Jeanty Names His Favorite NFL Team

Jeanty’s hometown is Jacksonville, Florida, and he is a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins. However, that doesn’t mean he will get to play for them in the NFL.

The Dolphins already have a prolific running back in De’Von Achane. They also have a savvy veteran in Raheem Mostert, alongside another emerging running back in Jaylen Wright.

Teams like the Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders are in more need of a player like Jeanty. There might be other teams as well who’ll be interested in drafting the Boise State RB due to the success that he has had in college.

In nine games this season, Jeanty has rushed for 1,734 yards and 23 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry and 192.7 rushing yards per game. He also has 16 receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Jeanty is a difference-maker whose skills will likely translate in the NFL. It will be interesting to see how early he gets drafted, as in recent years, we have seen the likes of Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs get their names called quite early in the draft.

Early on in the scouting cycle, PFN broke down Jeanty’s draft potential in his saying:

“Jeanty has the baseline vision, explosiveness, and physicality that all offensive coordinators covet in their ball carriers. But the Boise State RB takes things three steps further with his extraordinary creative framework — a framework that’s assuredly translatable in the NFL.

Jeanty Expressed Desire To Play for the Dallas Cowboys

Although Jeanty’s favorite team is Miami, he has expressed his desire to play for the Cowboys. In a recent conversation during a video on Deestroying’s channel, the grinning back revealed that the Cowboys would be an ideal fit for him.

“If I could script it, my family is all in Texas,” said Jeanty. “Family being there, all the connections, all the relationships, I feel like that would just be the perfect city to play in.”

The Cowboys are currently 3-6 on the season and given their struggles in running the ball this year, Rich Eisen also urged them to draft Jeanty. The pick makes a lot of sense for Dallas.

In PFN’s most recent mock draft, Jeanty landed with Dallas at 11th overall.

“Ashton Jeanty brings a playmaking ability the Dallas Cowboys haven’t seen since Zeke’s rookie season, and I’d argue strongly that Jeanty is a far superior prospect. A danger all over the field would make the team’s offensive identity immediately identifiable, which would be a massive improvement of its current state of disrepair.”

Dallas is averaging second-least rushing yards per game (83.7) in the league. The running back by committee method of utilizing Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Ezekiel Elliott, and Dalvin Cook has not worked for them. They need an explosive player like Jeanty, and fans will be unhappy if Jerry Jones doesn’t grant them their wishes.
