As the 2021 dynasty season takes off in full force, Superflex drafts lead the way in popularity, ushering in a new “standard” of fantasy football. Run through Superflex dynasty mock drafts, as many as you can — that will help you get an idea of what to do once you are on the clock and build your fantasy football team for 2021 and beyond.
How is a Superflex mock draft different from a regular fantasy football league?
Before we put the 1.01 on the clock, let’s run over a few ground rules so we are all on the same page. The four rounds below are based on a 10-team dynasty league with PPR and Superflex settings.
For those unfamiliar with the term “Superflex,” that means you have not only that traditional quarterback but an additional flex position where an RB, WR, TE, or a QB can be played. 99% of the time in your fantasy football leagues, you want this to be a QB given their higher floor and production totals.
Roster formats are a quarterback, two RBs, two WRs, one TE, two Flex (RB/WR/TE), and one Superflex spot.
A few tips before getting started
I like to traditionally go heavier on the quarterbacks and running backs in the draft’s early rounds. There are only 32 NFL teams and not every one of them has a QB you want starting on your fantasy football team. Best practices call for at least three starting-caliber QBs on your Superflex roster when you leave the draft. Positional scarcity drives up the price, and they are never cheaper than in the draft.
Run through several Superflex mocks drafts in the 2021 fantasy football offseason to hone a strategy you feel comfortable with before the real thing comes along.
2021 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft | First Round
1) Patrick Mahomes (QB1 – Kansas City Chiefs)
No real surprise here. Not only is Patrick Mahomes the best player in the NFL, but he is also the best QB for fantasy football. Your team is built around the QB. Knowing you have the best in the game at age 25 for multiple years is as good as it gets.
2) Kyler Murray (QB2 – Arizona Cardinals)
Flip a coin here at the 1.02 between Kyler Murray and Josh Allen. They are both in a tier together just below Mahomes.

Murray finished as the QB3 in fantasy, and hardly anyone even mentioned it. He ended the 2020 campaign just shy of 4,000 yards passing, with 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In addition, he also rushed for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns.
3) Josh Allen (QB3 – Buffalo Bills)
This pick in a Superflex mock draft is as simple as it gets. Take whichever QB between Murray and Allen is on the board.
You could go Christian McCaffrey, but knowing there are 14 picks until it comes back, going QB prevents you from being on the wrong side of the run that will come — they always do.
4) Christian McCaffrey (RB1 – Carolina Panthers)
The first running back off the board in this 2021 Superflex mock draft is the player that has dominated fantasy football since coming into the league.
McCaffrey played in only three games last year but still finished as the RB54, averaging 30.1 PPR points per game. He killed everyone the previous year with the 1.01, and while those wounds still hurt (trust me), I am going back to the well on this pick.
5) Deshaun Watson (QB4 – Houston Texans)
Despite trading away DeAndre Hopkins and facing constant pressure, Watson put up staggering numbers. He led the NFL in passing yards (4,823), had a 70.2% completion rating, threw for 33 touchdowns, and rushed for 444 yards. Those are MVP-caliber numbers.
Depending on where he lands, Watson could be a top-three selection. He will be one of the top fantasy players in 2021, no matter where he plays.
6) Jonathan Taylor (RB2 – Indianapolis Colts)
Look at what Jonathan Taylor did last year and tell me he isn’t as good as advertised. From Weeks 13 through 17, Taylor was the RB1 in fantasy with 130.0 points with 651 rushing yards and 8 total touchdowns. He finished the season as the RB6 despite Indianapolis doing everything possible to use either Nyheim Hines or Jordan Wilkins.

Taylor was my “ride or die” last season, and I am all-in on 16 games of him leading the Colts’ rushing attack. Even in Superflex dynasty mock drafts, I want him on every one of my rosters. What can I say? When I love, I love hard.
7) Dak Prescott (QB5 – Dallas Cowboys)
Despite his free agency situation in 2021, Dak Prescott is a phenomenal QB and only 27 years old. From Week 1 through 4, Prescott was on a different level of production, and I don’t see any reason he can’t pick back up where he left off.
The Cowboys’ offense is loaded, and he has shown a consistent ability to put up fantasy production. Knowing the premium place of QBs in the Superflex format, taking a QB allows for flexibility in later picks in this 2021 dynasty mock draft.
8) Lamar Jackson (QB6 – Baltimore Ravens)
Upside, upside, upside. No one is more dangerous on the ground than Lamar Jackson. One year removed from his MVP season, we saw a touchdown regression, but that was to be expected.
Take him at this dip in value, as he has weekly top-three upside in four-point-per-passing-touchdown leagues where rushing QBs gain value.
9) Saquon Barkley (RB3 – New York Giants)
There is a case to be made here for Davin Cook, given Barkley’s ACL tear. All signs point to him being on track for opening weekend.
He just needs to stay healthy. Barkley dominated his rookie season for over 2,000 total yards and 15 touchdowns. He missed three games in 2019 but still cranked out an RB10 performance.
10) Dalvin Cook (RB4 – Minnesota Vikings)
Take everything I said about Barkley and paste it here. When healthy, Cook is as good as any RB in the NFL. Last year, he played in 14 games and ended the season with over 1,900 yards and tied for second in rushing touchdowns (16).
