2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 12th pick

PFN Dynasty analyst Dennis Sosic continues his Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft series by drafting out of the 12th spot. Find out who he drafted and why.

    Round 17: TE Jace Sternberger

Sternberger has potential to be Rodgers’ number 2

There were a tremendous amount of choices with the last pick of my 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 1.12. The apparent inclination is to go after a player with the most upside regardless of position. I already have two upside tight ends on my roster with Fant and Goedert, but I decided to select another one with a unique upside in Green Bay Packers’ tight end, Jace Sternberger.

    Sternberger’s Fantasy Analysis

The Green Bay Packers believed Sternberger could be a difference-maker when they selected him as the 75th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Sternberger has the potential to become a legitimate threat in this Packers offense, and this season, he will have ample opportunity to prove it.

Green Bay didn’t sign a free-agent tight end following the departure of Jimmy Graham, who recorded 60 targets last season, meaning Sternberger will arrive at the Packers training camp as the starting tight end next season.

His rookie year was disappointing as he finished the regular season without a catch after appearing in only six games due to a significant ankle injury. However, he caught a touchdown pass in the NFC title game, which exhibited his ability and a prelude to chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. His ability to be another weapon in the Packers offense will raise the offensive level of the Packers, and ultimately, my dynasty roster.

2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft Recap

The 17 rounds of my 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 12th spot is now complete. Here is a look at my final roster:

    Quarterback:

    Running Backs:

    Wide Receivers:

    Tight Ends:

It’s quite evident that my quarterback position could be an immense issue. Two veteran quarterbacks in Stafford and Brees, who will probably play for only a couple more seasons, leaving me with only Tannehill in the immediate future. Not ideal.

I am in a win-now mode and looking at my roster as every dynasty owner should, which is within a three-year window. Using that metric, I believe I should be fine for now. However, the upcoming rookie drafts for this league would be essential for selecting my future quarterback(s).

The running back group is young but impressive. Mixon and Dobbins should be top five backs in dynasty rankings over the next few seasons. Hunt, along with Mattison, is one play away from being RB1 and possesses standalone value currently.

My wide receiver position is the strongest and deepest on my roster. Godwin and Ridley should be top ten receivers this season and in the foreseeable future. Lamb looks to be a fantasy star in the making in that explosive Cowboys offense. Two sophomore wideouts, Johnson and Slayton, look to build upon their rookie seasons and are projected to break out this year.

The three tight ends on my dynasty roster are young and full of promise. Fant will look to continue to build rapport with Lock. His upside seems endless. Goedert is already considered a top ten tight end but is still sharing touches with Ertz. Sternberger will look to grow in his second season as a secondary target to Davante Adams for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He is a breakout candidate at a shallow position, and I am thrilled to have him as my third tight end.

Overall, I expect to be a perennial playoff team. If my quarterbacks could hold up, I should be holding up the fantasy football trophy more than once in the upcoming seasons.
