1 Cut Candidate for Every AFC North Team: David Bell, Jackson Carman on the Outside Looking In

    Published on

The top AFC North cut candidates feature some rookie-deal players who have had slow starts to their career and one veteran on a cheap deal.

While three of the names on this list are young offensive players who have so far failed to live up to expectations on their rookie deal, another name is an experienced and accomplished veteran fighting to keep his hold on the NFL.

Who are the top AFC North cut candidates as training camp — and thus roster cutdowns — approach?

Potential Training Camp Cut Candidates for All AFC North Teams

Baltimore Ravens | WR Tylan Wallace

It’s now or never for Tylan Wallace, who was a fourth-round pick in 2021. He combined for just seven catches over his first three seasons and is a long shot to crack Baltimore’s 53-man roster.

Cincinnati Bengals | OT Jackson Carman

Jackson Carman failed to impress over his first three seasons and now is looking up at Trent Brown and Amarius Mims on the tackle depth chart. The writing might be on the wall for the 2021 second-rounder.

Cleveland Browns | WR David Bell

David Bell might be cut if he doesn’t take a big step forward in camp. The 2022 third-round pick (99th overall) has plenty of talent, but it’s translated to just 38 catches for 381 yards over two seasons.

Pittsburgh Steelers | QB Russell Wilson

With a salary of just over $1 million, Russell Wilson arguably is more valuable to the Steelers if he stays on the roster. However, the salary also makes him easy to cut, and if Justin Fields wins the starting QB job, Pittsburgh might want to cut Wilson to avoid distractions.
